What does this community space/venue do?
The Talleyrand is a high street music venue in the heart of Manchester. Working on a
limited budget they provide a platform for local bands and musicians to promote their
music. Some of the facilities identified as in need of attention included the ‘green room’
which is currently no more than an under stairs closet and the main event space that is
in need of some acoustic treatment.
What is VIY doing?
VIY will clear the existing space, remove the current door frame and associated stud wall to create additional room, and install new flooring before decorating the area. A continuous countertop will be fitted along the right-hand side, with bench seating installed on the left to provide performers with a comfortable space to rest between sets and prepare for performances.
Within the main event space, VIY will remove the existing fabric wall coverings and install specialist acoustic panels along both side walls and behind the stage to improve sound quality and reduce reverberation. VIY will also look to improve ventilation by installing a humidity-triggered extraction fan to help manage heat and humidity during performances.
