About the project
Nechells Green Boxing Academy has been operating for approximately 60 years. 6 years ago the venue was given the news by Birmingham City Council that they would have to vacate their current premises at Nechells Community Centre. They located a venue at really short notice at a vacant small warehouse on Taronis Scrapyard in Nechells. They quickly gave this a lick of paint and moved in their gear. With the quick turn around, the work wasnt quite up to the standard they ran their reputation on. This is where VIY and Dulux come in.
What is VIY doing?
We will be completely repainting the inside of their venue in PBW an Brilliant Green. It will give the venue a complete makeover giving it the new lease of life they desperately need.
What will be the impact of our project?
Nechells Boxing Clubs aim is to provide a service for the community to keep fit, learn self defence and more importantly to keep kids off the street and develop local talent. They have already developed amateur and professional boxers. The new look will give the club the pull to attract new users.
