About the project

What does this community space/venue do?

Llamau is a leading charity in Wales dedicated to supporting young people, women and children who are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness. For nearly four decades, they have been at the forefront of tackling homelessness and its root causes, working tirelessly to ensure that those facing the greatest challenges are given safety, stability and the opportunity to thrive.
Over the past 40 years, they have supported more than 160,000 young people, women and children, providing safe and secure accommodation, trauma‑informed support, education and training programmes that build confidence, develop essential life skills and open pathways to brighter, more independent futures. Their work is grounded in compassion, expertise and a belief that everyone deserves the chance to feel valued, supported and hopeful about what comes next.

What is VIY doing?

VIY will be undertaking a full refurbishment of the top two floors of the building. This programme of works includes the complete redesign and redecoration of all four office spaces, alongside comprehensive improvements to the connecting halls, stairways and landings. Once finished, these areas will offer a modern, refreshed and more functional environment for staff and visitors alike.
What will be the impact of our project?
Team West Midlands will be delivering a series of improvement projects aimed at strengthening Llamaus community outreach, enhancing its facilities, and supporting long‑term sustainability. Several parts of the site now require urgent attention, and these will form a key focus of the programme.
The team will also be transforming the upstairs offices, which are currently unused and in a noticeably run‑down condition. These spaces, along with the adjoining hallways, staircases and landings, will undergo a full redecoration to bring them back into active use and create a more professional, functional environment for staff and volunteers.
