Jordan, 19, got hands-on trade experience through our VIY project at The Space, an NGO in Stockport, funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority through the UKSPF in March 2024.
At the time, he decided not to take up take up further careers support – but when a 2025 follow-up text offered new opportunities, he reconnected with our Youth Progressions team.
With support from our progressions team, Jordan updated his CV, wrote a cover letter, applied for apprenticeships, prepped for interviews, and earned his CSCS card.
Jordan shared: “I got involved with VIY via the King’s Trust and VIY helped me a lot through job searching, getting my CSCS card and Ash was always there to answer any questions I had. If I didn’t have a CSCS card, I wouldn’t have gotten the job so it’s all thanks to VIY really!“
Thanks to this support from the VIY team, Jordan has now successfully secured a role with a local builders’ firm in October, with the company also supporting him to gain trade-based NVQs.
