Abbey Hey FC
About the project
The club aims to create female changing rooms within the clubhouse. However, the space identified for this is currently occupied by the kitchen and café area. As food and drink provision is essential on match days, the kitchen must be relocated before any internal refurbishment can take place.
To enable this, the proposed project will involve the creation of an outdoor kitchen/serving area. This will support the club’s catering needs in the medium term and allow internal modifications to proceed.
Proposed Solution
A suitable location has been identified on the north side of the clubhouse, due to its proximity to existing water and electricity services.
The preferred approach is to utilise a pre-owned 20ft shipping container or a similarly sized portacabin as the base structure. However, it is acknowledged that cost may be a constraint unless external support or donation of the unit can be secured.
Scope of Works (VIY)
Preparation and setup of the container/portacabin structure
Installation of a continuous serving counter along the front elevation
Internal fit-out to accommodate relocated catering equipment (e.g. ovens, fridges)
General construction, joinery, and finishing works
Exclusions
Plumbing works
Electrical works
This solution will provide a practical, temporary catering facility, enabling the club to progress with the development of dedicated female changing rooms within the existing clubhouse
