About the project
What does this community space/venue do?
Becconsall – a new museum and heritage park in development
Becconsall is a new museum and heritage park in an exciting phase of development. Situated on a 20-acre Biological Heritage Site in Hesketh Bank in West Lancashire, Becconsall will be a year-round attraction for everyone that tells the stories of everyday life in Lancashire through the ages.
Focussing on the industrial, social and craft heritage of historic Lancashire, Becconsall will promote learning, skills and wellbeing, by engaging with a wide range of audiences. Through our collections, demonstrations, re-enactments, themed events and workshops, Becconsall will generate genuine and lasting community engagement; whilst also fostering a sense of pride in the area’s rich history, from Viking settlements, to the Industrial Revolution and beyond
What is VIY doing?
VIY will be installing insulation in the roof to improve heating in the wooden hut. We will also be painting the walls in the brand colours and, if time allows, building picnic-style seating and planters.
What will be the impact of our project?
We will be improving the energy efficiency of the hut, helping to reduce running costs, while also enhancing the overall appearance of the venue through painting and decorating.
